The Not So Serious Hiker's Guide to Packing for Lake Placid

Teachers everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief that this school year has ended and things look positive for a return to (almost) normal next year! We all love a little time away and for me, nothing says the start of summer like a week in Lake Placid. If you haven't spent time there, you should give it a try! Of course, Placid appeals to the outdoorsy types: hiking trails, kayaking, etc! But it also offers a slew of fun eateries and night life! After a year of restrictions, Placid is open and welcoming visitors! There is nothing like that fantastic fireworks display over Mirror Lake to celebrate the Fourth of July!

Of course, I packed a bag for hiking. My mountain-climbing bestie always has me tackling a new mountain or two, but I also packed a fun collection of Americana inspired dresses and casual wear for our non-hiking adventures!

This fun summer dress is perfect for grabbing dinner at one of the great restaraunts in Placid! You can dress it down with sneakers (so you can walk to your destination) and top it with a denim jacket for a casual look. With sandals and jewlery, you can dress it up! Available at Maurices: white floral mini dresswhite sneakers, denim jacket.

This dress is one of my best finds this season. Here, you see it in navy with a white rope belt and heels, but it also looks great with a knotted tee layered over it and sneakers! Or try it with the hem knotted! I went for a classic navy, but it comes in tie dye, floral,'re going to have a hard time deciding:  Navy Maxi Dress

There is nothing like a great white sundress! This one can be dressed up for dinner with gold toned flip flops, thrown on over a white swim suit for the walk to the beach, under a colorful kimono or a plaid buttondown....the list goes on.  Find a similar one here: white dress

This classy look is my favorite outfit this season. A cropped sweater tank in a beautiful blue tops patterned pants with a tie waist! Find it here: Ann Taylor Floral Sarong Pant and Cropped Sweater Shell.

These fun shorts are perfect for July 4! Throw on a simple white tee, sneakers and a denim jacket to watch the fireworks over Mirror Lake: Ikat Shorts from Loft.

I am a huge fan of the white swimsuit! This one is by Michael Kors and it is a perfect, classy choice! Layer on a blue floral kimono for a look that is festive for July 4, but not overly so. Find it at Macys: Michael Kors White Suit.
