"And Summer's lease hath all too short a date..."

What seemed like an endless summer has slipped into September in the blink of an eye. The start of this school year will be like no other; most of us are looking at a hybrid schedule and working to make the opening of school as valuable as we can for students. Here in the North Country, air conditioned classrooms are not the norm, so we look for fashion choices that pick up autumn hues while still holding on to the flowy, sleeveless look of summer. With our lives still in upheaval, few of us have time to get to a mall even if our stores were open and stocked. All of the trends below have links so you can order up some fun styles to brighten up your hybrid day....

Shades of gold and burgundy create a perfect start to the school year. Layer tanks and sleeveless tops under light jackets and cardigans so you are comfortable in sweltering September heat or cool rainy days.

White jeans are a perfect backdrop to a golden tank and fun floral cardigan . Don't forget accessories; We love this multi-layered necklace from White House Black Market avalable here: necklace

A golden duster over slim black pants and a floral tank is a great look for both frolicking in corn fields and teaching ninth graders. Mix patterns with a fun shoe like this animal print flat .

A denim style jacket in a golden hue creates a perfect transition from summer into fall. Try this one: gold denim. A perfect accessory for this fall is this layered necklace available in white or yellow: Layered necklace

Sunflower prints are hot this season. We love this sunflower sundress from Maurices. With a jacket, it's a cute classroom look; without, it's perfect for a dinner out. Try it with a fun patterned boot: leopard print shootie.

Keep the tropical print going into September with this autumn inspired color scheme. We love to mix this pattern with an animal print bootie like this one: Chelsea boot. You'll find many great choices at Sole Society, now available at DSW.

This crocheted tank is a perfect way to transition from hot summer days to...hot September days. It looks great by itself but adds texture and interest layered under cardigans and jackets.

A slit sleeve blouse creates a playful look that is also classroom appropriate. This one in basic black would work well with all fall prints: split sleeve top

It is sad to see summer on its way out, but we are excited to get back in the classroom. Here's to a safe and productive re-opening...fingers crossed!
